Mission Statements

One of the most challenging parts of the FLI Program is taking all of your exciting and innovative ideas and turning them into practical steps that you can go out and accomplish. A mission statement helps bridge that gap.

Your mission statement is your objective, the outcome you want to achieve by doing this project. It must be specific, concise and most importantly, doable. Think in terms of breadth (how many people you want to affect), depth (how much you alter their behavior) and legacy (how long your project lasts for) to help make your thoughts more concrete. Start broad: “I want to use my photography to fight climate change” and move to specific: “I will make prints of my photography on postcards and sell them for $5.00 each; on the backs of my postcards I will put information about how people can change their lives to fight climate change. I will raise $5,000.00 from this and donate it to Green for All.”

The more specific your mission statement, the easier it will be to create a plan to make your project a success!
