Get Involved

There are lots of ways that committed individuals and groups can help FLI in its mission to build bold humanitarian leaders to address our world's most pressing needs.

Becoming a Mentor

You can start changing the world today simply by being you!

Sign up here to mentor a student for FLI. We'll create a profile for you on our Network for Change, a site where students browse mentor profiles to find a professional who closely matches their interests and reach out for help. Mentors are "on-call" throughout a student's 10-month FLI journey to answer questions via email or meet with a student and their FLI Guide to help provide support and feedback for their work. You can learn more here.

Mentors also attend our Mentor Match Night, where they work closely with several students for a single evening to provide feedback and ideas about student projects and their professional career paths.

Becoming a Community Partner

FLI started it's Community Partner Initiative to provide local organizations and businesses a way to directly plug into the FLI Network. Community Partners are local organizations and/or businesses committed to helping improve their neighborhoods, communities and the world. Partners join FLI’s Network for Change and provide FLI students whose passions and interests are aligned with their missions with feedback, guidance and help in successfully completing their projects. In exchange, FLI students will volunteer to support the work of a Community Partner, donate project proceeds and form long-term, lasting relationships benefiting students as they launch their professional careers as change-makers.

Our students have raised over $50,000.00 for causes and organizations throughout the world, including:

  • Over $8,000.00 for Beads for Life
  • Over $10,000 for Vital Life Services
  • Over $4,000 for the Baby Elmo Project

Students have also formed lasting relationships with countless organizations throughout the Bay Area, going on to volunteer, intern and receive awards all in the name of supporting their work.
